Located in Nungwi, on the northern tip of Zanzibar, around one hour from the airport, Essque Zalu is unique as it is impressive. The resort is laid out to make the most of the stunning views of the Indian Ocean and the flourishing tropical gardens. Stylish and chic throughout, there is an abundant use neutral colour and traditional art work, with one of the features being the main infinity swimming pool but without doubt the jewel in the crown is the jetty. This is very impressive and offers the opportunity of dining, drinks and snorkelling and various places for relaxation.

There are 48 rooms in total, of varying sizes, included a variety of multiple room villas which would work particularly well for families. Room facilities include everything that you would expect from a modern 4/5-star hotel and are very comfortable. The resort also features an impressive spa from where a variety of treatments are available. The main downside here is the beach, during high tide and a good proportion of the transition stage there isn’t one. This is when the jetty comes in to play and has points that you can enter the sea for snorkelling and swimming. If you like your beach then this isn’t the place for you but if a stunning pool, incredible jetty, chic design and amazing food are your thing, dive in, you will not be disappointed.
